My name is Lana Saciragic and I am a third year medical student at the University of Ottawa. I hold the role of National Officer on Reproductive
and Sexual Health (NORSH) in the Canadian Federation of Medical Students Global Health Program (CFMS-GHP). The role of the NORSH is to serve and
educate Canadian medical students about sexual and reproductive health by creating opportunities in these fields and liaising with relevant organizations. It seeks to promote the theme of sexual and reproductive health within the CFMS-GHP by working closely with the VP Global Health, other National Officers and small working groups.
This position involves the following:
1. Organizing reproductive health workshops at medical student conferences, such as Ontario Medical School Weekend (OMSW) and Dal-Mun/Mun-Dal Weekend.
2. Supporting Global Health Liaisons (GHLs) at Canadian medical schools in implementing a Worlds AIDS Day program by providing them with resources and information. This involves liaising with representatives from HIV/AIDS organizations such as Give A Day campaign, World AIDS Campaign, UNAIDS, MTV Staying Alive Campaign to gather relevant resources and materials. Depending on interest from GHLs, the NORSH can also coordinate a unified national World AIDS Day campaign.
3. Supporting Global Health Liaisons (GHLs) at Canadian medical schools in implementing an International Women's Day campaign by providing them with resources and information. This involves liaising with representatives from relevant organizations such as the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SOGC) to gather relevant resources and materials. The NORSH may also coordinate a unified International Women's Day campaign, again depending on GHL interest.
