My name is Fadi Hamadani, and I’m a third year medical student at the University of Ottawa. I am serving the Canadian Federation of Medical Students Global Health Program (CFMS-GHP) as the National Officer of Partnership. Formerly part of the profile of the National Officer of Public Health, this new position was created in March 2008 to help increase communication between CFMS-GHP members, the CFMS and external organizations, and to help create new global health opportunities for medical students within existing organizations, projects, and programs. The position plans to accomplish this through the following initiatives:
1) Opening to the medical world the great work being done by the CFMS-GHP through negotiation with the CMAJ to publish a series of articles on global health submitted by members of the CFMS-GHP.
2) Promoting medical student participation in global health activities locally, nationally, and internationally by partnering with well-established NGOs, conferences, and faculty programs. For example, over the last year, the CFMS-GHP was involved with GHEC, AFMC, SUNSIH, CSIH, CCIH and McGill’s Global Health Program.
3) Increasing partnerships with global health organizations and NGOs. This role supports the Global Health Mentorship Project and is seeking out new partnerships with CCIH, CMAJ, and others. |
