Are you one of those people who has so much energy, always wanting to do things, but don't know what to do? Are you original and creative, but with no platform to perform? Do you have a project that you want to realize but are scratching your head for lack of funding? The CFMS is here for you.
The CFMS Student Initiative Grants were established in 2007 to provide support and funding to medical student initiatives. The fund was established in reaction to the increasing number of medical student run initiatives and the need for official and financial support from the national student organization.
Following the success of the many wonderful projects that the CFMS sponsored in 2007, the CFMS has once again set aside funds to provide continued financial support with the goal of assisting students in realizing events or initiatives that promote interaction between CFMS students and member schools. Deadlines for submissions are February 1, 2008 and June 1, 2008 - at these times, all applications that have been received will be scored and the successful applicants will be notified promptly.
The criteria for your initiative to be accepted and eligible for CFMS funding is that your proposed initiative should be inclusive of the diversity of CFMS members, promote interaction between CFMS members and member schools, and enhance the visibility of the CFMS.
Some examples of projects that received funding in 2007 are:
- The Manitoba Perinatal Loss Education Workshop
- McMaster's Healthforall.ca website
- Ottawa's Pre-departure training program for global exchanges
- Icebowl 2008
- NOSM's HumerUs! Magazine
- McGill's "Initiative Benin"
